So I can’t say that I particularly enjoy bringing my lunch to work. For me it is a big of a hassle as I prepare food on Sunday to bring into work, and that typically means bringing in containers, and trying not to forget them or let their contents become science experiments. What I do like is not having to pay 15 dollars for a decent lunch each day I go into work. I work in an expensive side of town where fast food doesn’t really exist, and a moderate priced lunch is about 10 dollars. Let’s say in a good week I could manage to spend about 75 dollars.

Personally I would rather have the 75 dollars in my pocket or at least some of that cash I would like to save. After wearing braces as an adult for about six years, I really don’t like sandwiches, and I don’t really enjoy frozen dinners every meal. The frozen dinners I typically enjoy tend to be the more expensive ones, so I have taken to cooking up my own meals and bringing in the food to have for work. For breakfast packages of instand oatmeal or grits work well.

Instead of hitting up the soda machine I will make iced tea at the office. So often we need that caffine fix while we are working. The price of soda’s in the vending machines can be vicious, and my office only sells bottled drinks, I don’t care for those, so it must be a blessing of sorts.

I have found pasta dishes, and casseroles typically reheat well in the microwave. I often make a large pot of meat sauce and pasta and bring in that during the week. While it may not be the most exciting lunch, it does save me time from leaving the office, hurriedly scarfing down lunch and then heading back into the office. Best of all, I get to keep a large chunk of that $75 dollars in my pocket.
