Diets and the Holidays

For me diets and the holidays don't mix.  I like to over induldge.  Being on a low fat calorie diet, then eating much richer food doesn't go so well for me.  I have had wildly different food in my house this past weekend with having company over, and having a holiday party this weekend.  The last several days has been filled with latkes, cabbages, smoked fish of multiple varieties and so much more.  After having ate light for about a month now, I have been feeling quite under the weather … [Read more...]

I live and work in affluent parts of town.  … [Read more...]

Salty Sweets: Delectable Desserts and Tempting Treats with a Sublime Kiss of Salt by Christie Matheson

For the last couple of years I have seen pairings of salt and sweet in finer restaurants. At first I thought, you must be crazy, why would I want a salty dessert. I can assure you, they go well together. In fact, they go so well together you will be wondering why you didn't think of this before. I find that the salt brings out flavors other than the sweetness in a particular dish, and it also takes away the shockingly sweet ways desserts can taste. With that being said, let's look at this … [Read more...]
